Grade 7: On Board with Light

"Sea" the light…

How do pilots flying planes at 160 miles per hour use light to align and adjust their flight paths to land in an area the size of a tennis court aboard an aircraft carrier? Learn how the physical properties of light help aviators land day and night. Students will experience for themselves the challenges faced by aviators on approach as they participate in a simulated carrier landing. In a very personal way they will discover why aviators need "the right stuff". Our on board workshops are designed to teach Content Standards: Physical Properties of Living Systems (6a-d, 6f, 6g) Math (3.0, 3.2, 3.3).

Program fee: $9 per student (Lab includes a Mach Combat Simulator experience)

Special Value: Combine your On Board visit with the use of our self-guided student audio tours. This On Board Plus program is available for the discounted rate of $10 per student!
