Jessica Sanchez, Live On Midway This Saturday! The USS Midway Museum is planning a free Jessica Sanchez Community Celebration this Saturday, May 12, featuring an in-person performance by Jessica.
The community celebration is set for Midway’s flight deck at 2 p.m. The celebration is free for the general public with boarding only between 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. (No exceptions. Regular admission applies to visit the museum.)
Preliminary celebration plans include:
- Jessica is expected to sing several songs
- County Supervisor Greg Cox will present a proclamation
- San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders has been invited to present a proclamation
- The U.S. Navy band has been invited to perform
- Members of the USS San Diego (to be commissioned at Navy Pier May 19) crew will be included
- The Retro Rockets (oldies band) will perform, presented by the USO
- Jessica will depart the flight deck in a helicopter, bound for Hollywood
Portions of her Midway appearance will appear in the next American Idol episode, to be broadcast nationally on Wednesday, May 16.
Free admission for the performance only will be subject to the museum’s occupancy limits. The event will be first come, first serve and standing room only (no chairs or coolers will be allowed). Parking will be limited. Expect traffic delays due to Harbor Drive construction. Public transportation is strongly recommended as Midway is within walking distance of downtown trolley stops.
