Trendsetting Online Community/Website Specialist
San Diego’s top-rated attraction, the USS Midway Museum seeks a dynamic, trendsetting and self-motivated website/social media guru to assist with the implementation of the Museum’s online presence. This is not just a job; this is an opportunity for adventure! We are looking to “catapult” our online presence to “supersonic” levels! This hands-on position is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and improvement of the Museum’s websites and social media channels, including Facebook, You Tube, Twitter, Flicker, etc.

Summary of Responsibilities:
• Plan and implement creative programs to grow fan base, traffic to websites and engagement.
• Work with management and staff to write, edit and update content and design for Museum websites and internet channels as requested.
• Strategize and educate management on incorporating relevant social media techniques into our corporate culture.
• Assists with developing and implementing key social media initiatives, and publishing status updates and reports, as appropriate.
• Analyze and report on user activity data; develop the Museum’s understanding of visitor’s behavior and their connections to us online.
• Develop and monitor Google alerts and dashboards, QR codes and RSS Feeds.
• Collaborate with IT on website maintenance needs.
• Report directly to Assistant Marketing Director.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Education/Experience:
• Technical degree or certification strongly preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of closely related work experience.
Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent editing/proofreading skills.
• Have an intimate, demonstrated knowledge of social platforms and tools – including experience -blogging, tweeting, optimizing content for SEO, and setting up monitoring programs.
• Solid experience with content management systems.
• Literate in: HTML/CSS, Photoshop/Illustrator, Flash.
• Experience with audio/video editing suites a plus.
• Graphic arts background a plus.
• Proficient in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to deal effectively with deadlines and time pressures.
• Able to multi-task and problem solve without supervision.
• Accurate and detail oriented.
• Team player – ready and willing to help wherever needed or assigned.
• Excellent customer service skills.
Working Conditions:
• Job Conditions/Work Location: Work is performed in an office; hangar and flight deck aboard ship.
• Physical Requirements: Need to climb up and down stairs and ladders; to bend; stoop, and lift to move and retrieve office materials.

USS Midway Museum Exhibit Tech
The USS Midway Museum is America’s most-visited historic floating ship museum. It is dedicated to preserving the legacy and contributions of naval aviation as well as honoring those who serve America in uniform. It is the top-rated attraction in San Diego and hosts more than 940,000 visitors annually. Located in downtown San Diego, it is open daily and also serves as an education resource and a private event facility.
We are seeking an experienced Exhibit Technician. This is a hands-on position responsible for ensuring the museum exhibits are in excellent condition and all equipment is functioning effectively.
Summary of Responsibilities:
• Preserves, prepares, maintains and displays items and exhibit areas.
• Develops and maintains a schedule for preparing and maintaining display areas and exhibits.
• Cleans objects, such as paper, textiles, wood, metal, glass, rock, pottery, and furniture, using cleansers, solvents, soap solutions, and polishes.
• Performs periodic repairs of exhibits
• Coordinates with outside vendors for complex repairs and services
• Order supplies and maintains inventory for exhibit department
• Prepares artifacts for storage and shipping
• Responsible for exhibit department deliveries and storage area.
• Prepares necessary documents and compose correspondence.
• Works closely with the department volunteers
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Education/Experience:
• Associate degree or higher in museum studies, art history or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of two years of museum technician experience or shop experience in another institution.
Skills/Abilities:
• Demonstrates an organizational fit for the company culture, that is, exhibit the values of respect, empowerment, quality, fun and success.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to operate and use small power/hand tools.

Working Conditions:
• Job Conditions/Work Location: Work is performed on board an aircraft carrier. Work schedule is Mon-Fri, 7:30 am – 4 pm with the ability to work occasional evenings/weekends.
• Physical Requirements: Constant climbing up/down stairs and ladders; bend stoop, and lift to move and retrieve materials; pull/push lift, and carry up to 40 pounds; reach both above and below shoulder height.
• Equipment Operated: Small power tools, janitorial equipment, computer, printer, fax machine, telephone, copier and scanner.

Technical Support Specialist

Summary of the position:
This position is responsible for providing support of the IT infrastructure. This infrastructure includes the physical network (e.g., desktops, printers, phone, WAN/LAN, servers, terminals), as well as server applications and software (e.g., Gateway POS and Order Entry).
•Interacts with internal and external clients on all levels to help resolve-IT related issues.
• Responsible for supporting the configuration, maintenance and installation of server applications and hardware.
• Tests and implements software solutions.
• Recommend and/or purchase inventory, and control supplies and/or parts.
• Plans, implements and manages the training programs of both staff and volunteers for current and future hardware and/or software.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Education/Experience:
• Associates degree in Computer Science, or relevant certifications, or equivalent on-the-job experience.
• 2-4 years of related work experience, preferably in a retail environment with order entry systems
Skills/Abilities:

• Knowledge of Windows Exchange Server 2007 and Windows Server 2003 & 2008: DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, Hyper-V
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office 2007 and 2010
• Experience with POS and Order Entry Systems, Donor Database Systems, Gateway Ticketing experience a plus
• Knowledge of Drupal 6 CMS, HTML, SharePoint 2010 preferred, but not required
• Ability to analyze business processes and use technology to make process more efficient.
• Must have the troubleshooting and analytical skills necessary to resolve complex computer system problems with minimal supervision.
• Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Must be available, “on call”, by phone or in person to troubleshoot critical system problems when needed, day or night, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to provide formal and informal instruction to non-technical personnel in the use of computer hardware and/or software.
• Able to multi-task and problem solve without supervision.
• Accurate and detail oriented.
• Team player – ready and willing to help wherever needed or assigned.

Working Conditions:
• Job Conditions/Work Location: Work is normally performed aboard an Aircraft Carrier. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks such as electrical voltage or chemicals, moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises which require following basic safety precautions.
• Physical Requirements: Constant climbing up/down stairs and ladders; bend stoop, and lift to move and retrieve materials; pull/push lift, and carry up to 40 pounds; reach both above and below shoulder height.
