Our popular school program sells out each year hosting over 45,000 students grades 2 – 8 for on board science, math and social studies workshops.   • Traditional school schedule; Monday – Friday, Sept – June
  • Hours are 8:30 am – 1:30 pm

  • Provide innovative educational instruction to school groups of all ages
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
  • Three years of classroom teaching experience
  • Classroom management skills
  • Ability to explain technical, historical and scientific information in an entertaining fashion and
  • Enjoy working with elementary, middle and high school students
  • Spanish as a second language is a plus
  • Candidates must be able to climb up and down ladders and stairs, perform light cleaning duties and lift up to 20 lbs

Marketing Coordinator reports to assistant Marketing Director and provide significant operational support to the marketing team with a key focus on community outreach, marketing event planning, social media campaigns and administrative duties as needed.

Schedule is generally Monday – Friday but must be flexible to work holidays, nights and weekends as needed.

    Summary of Responsibilities:
  • Logistically administers all off-site community outreach events and the Community Outreach team.
  • Administer Midway’s inclusion and participate in various community parades with Midway’s aircraft carrier balloon float.
  • Assist in scheduling, drafting content and developing online newsletters and e-blasts.
  • Works with Online community Specialist to develop online campaigns and assist with the overall social media strategy.
  • Works closely with Assistant Marketing Director to coordinate marketing events from concept development to operation and execution.
  • Provide creative input and ideas to enhance marketing programs and partnerships.
  • Act as a liaison with other departments, vendors and partners for the coordination of events.
  • Manage donation fulfillment process (print letters; provide supplies, request tickets, staff volunteers).
  • Supports other marketing projects which may include but not be limited to: video and photography shoots, media relations, marketing-related research projects, marketing partnership projects.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

    Education/Experience:
  • Four-year college degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience.
    Skills/Abilities
  • Computer skills to include proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint and the use of the internet and popular social media channels like Facebook, twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram.
  • Excellent editing/proofreading skills.
  • Excellent administrative, written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to work in a self-initiating business environment.
  • Ability to multitask efficiently.

POSITION SUMMARY
The fundamental role of the position is to provide leadership for the execution of special events aboard the USS Midway Museum. This position works closely with a variety of constituents, requiring the candidate possess excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, including a proven ability to tactfully collaborate on challenging issues.

Schedule is generally Monday – Friday but must be flexible to work nights, holidays, and weekends as needed.

    SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Mentor, train, motivate and coach event operations team (8+ employees).
  • Schedule event management staff and oversee scheduling of event set-up staff.
  • Work collaboratively with Event sales staff in the transfer of definite events for implementation.
  • Assign events to Event Managers; maintain a level of oversight of each event as it progresses.
  • When necessary, self-assign events.
  • Review/revise standard operating procedures to ensure policies and requirements of executing events on board are met by staff, vendors and planners.
  • Coordinate with a variety of vendors, including electrical services, for scheduling staff at events, establish and maintain record of service and equipment.
  • Coordinate with facilities for construction/ship’s maintenance needs.
  • Establish and oversee event equipment procurement, inventory and maintenance records.
  • Manage billing/invoices with vendors and event clients and work with Accounting on client receivables.
  • Schedule and lead operations meetings as appropriate.
  • Assist and work at events when needed.
  • Work collaboratively with Event sales staff on all aspects in the sales-event execution-event closeout process.
  • Provide annual budgetary input to the Marketing Director.
  • All other duties, as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

    Education/Experience:
  • Four-year college degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of special event execution experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience leading/managing a staff of 2 or more.
    Skills/Abilities
  • Highly effective leadership skills, proven ability to lead a team.
  • Ability to lead collaborations with multiple parties and leadership skills to inspire, motivate, and gain trust from staff, partners, vendors, etc.; must be able to work with a wide range of individuals.
  • Computer skills to include proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of ReServe and Meeting Matrix a plus.
  • Excellent administrative, written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to work in a self-initiating business environment.

Position Summary

San Diego’s top-rated attraction, the USS Midway Museum, has an opening for an experienced ship painter to be a part of the Ship’s Preservation team. This person will also provide the general labor necessary for the daily operations of the facilities department.

$10 - $12 hour based on experience
Status: 60 day temporary assignment with potential for full time after assignment is completed
Schedule: 40 hours per week, schedule varies.

MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK A SCHEDULE THAT WILL INCLUDE WEEKENDS, EVENINGS AND HOLIDAYS.

  • Painting, demolition, scraping, etc.
  • Assist in basic construction

    Summary of Responsibilities:
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, using cleansers, solvents, soap solutions, and polishes
  • Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; refill restroom dispensers
  • Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors
  • Wash walls and equipment
  • Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools; buffers, vacuums, brooms and mops for cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, equipment, etc.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

    Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in custodial maintenance or a related field
