Department: Volunteer
Reports to: Laurie Switzer, Volunteer Director
Status: Regular part-time
Pay rate: $12.00 hour
Schedule: Mon-Wed-Fri, 9 am – 3 pm plus occasional nights/weekends

Position Summary:
The USS Midway Museum has an excellent opportunity for a service-oriented Volunteer Coordinator with a passion for people and volunteerism.

In this role you will greet and assist prospective and existing volunteers via email, phone and in-person, provide support for the daily activities of the volunteer office and oversee episodic group projects including youth groups.

    Summary of Responsibilities:
  • Maintain volunteer management processes and procedures to recruit, orient, train, supervise, place, evaluate and recognize volunteers within Volunteer Services on an ongoing basis.
  • Assist potential and new volunteers with questions and issues, and provide updates to Volunteer Director as necessary.
  • Write and edit content for Volunteer e-newsletter.
  • Assist Director of Volunteer Programs with special events and general operations: personnel file management, recruitment/on-boarding.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

    Education/Experience:
    • HS Diploma required, some college preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Prior experience administrating a volunteer program and/or experience facilitating groups and projects.
    • Prior experience working with youth volunteers or in youth education a plus.
      Skills/Abilities:
      • Excellent customer service skills – position requires constant emailing, phone and in-person communication.
      • Comfortable with public speaking/group presentations, team facilitation and leading training.
      • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
      • Proficient in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
      • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
      • Able to multi-task and problem solve with limited supervision.
      • Ability to work well in teams and collaborate with others.
      • Accurate and detail oriented.
      • Team player – ready and willing to help wherever needed or assigned.

      Working Conditions:

      Job Conditions/Work Location: Work is performed in an office, hangar and flight deck on board an aircraft carrier.
      Physical Requirements: Constant climbing up/down stairs and ladders; bend stoop, and lift to move and retrieve materials; pull/push lift, and carry up to 40 pounds; reach both above and below shoulder height.
      Equipment Operated: Computer, printer, fax machine, telephone, copier and scanner.

      Position Summary

      San Diego’s top-rated attraction, the USS Midway Museum, has an opening for an experienced ship painter to be a part of the Ship’s Preservation team. This person will also provide the general labor necessary for the daily operations of the facilities department.

      $10 - $12 hour based on experience
      Status: 60 day temporary assignment with potential for full time after assignment is completed
      Schedule: 40 hours per week, schedule varies.

      MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK A SCHEDULE THAT WILL INCLUDE WEEKENDS, EVENINGS AND HOLIDAYS.

        Summary of Responsibilities
      • Painting, demolition, scraping, etc.
      • Assist in basic construction
      • Load/unload event gear with lift equipment
      • Operate shipboard equipment
      • Clean, dust, wipe, sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; refill restroom dispensers.

      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

        Education/Experience:
      • High School Diploma or equivalent.
      • 1 year of related experience required
      • Shipboard painting experience required.
        Skills/Abilities:
      • Team player – ready and willing to help wherever needed or assigned.
      • Excellent customer service skills.
      • RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION TO ACCOMMODATE LATE NIGHT/EARLY MORNING HOURS!
        Working Conditions:
      • Job Conditions/Work Location: Work is performed on board an aircraft carrier. Shifts vary and require ability to work nights and weekends.
      • Physical Requirements: Constant climbing up/down stairs and ladders; bend, stoop, kneel and lift to move and retrieve materials; pull/push lift, and carry up to 80 pounds; reach both above and below shoulder height.
      • Equipment Operated: Aircraft elevator, fork lift, man lift, aircraft tow truck, buffer/scrubber, pallet jack, small power tools and janitorial equipment.

      POSITION SUMMARY

      Under general supervision, the primary responsibilities include the preparation and reconciliation of accounting information, as well as being responsible for accurate and timely processing of accounts receivable. Additionally, this position will support the CFO and Accounting Manager in other accounting tasks and projects and provide quality internal customer service.

        SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
      • Prepare, reconcile and verify accounting information to contribute to accuracy and timeliness of the company's financials by assisting with Journal Entries, Account Reconciliations and various reporting requests
      • Generate invoices and keeps track of receivables and makes necessary collection calls
      • Codes and deposits checks received and allocates them into assigned revenue accounts
      • Enters deposits into main accounting software

      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

        Education/Experience:
      • Bachelor's degree required in accounting or related field
      • 1-2 years accounting experience preferred
      • Knowledge of QuickBooks Enterprise a plus!

      • Computer skills to include proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook

      Summary of Responsibilities:

      Status: 60 Day Temporary assignment with potential for full time hire after assignment is completed
      Schedule: 40 hours per week, must be able to work nights & weekends!
      Pay rate: $10 - $12 hour based on experience

      ALL POSITIONS REQUIRED RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION TO ACCOMMODATE PM HOURS!!

      MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK A SCHEDULE THAT WILL INCLUDE WEEKENDS, EVENINGS AND HOLIDAYS.

      • Assist in basic construction and plumbing services
      • Load/unload event gear with lift equipment
      • Perform basic equipment repair
      • Operate shipboard equipment

        Requirements
      • Minimum of 1 year of related experience required
      • U.S. Navy shipboard maintenance experience a plus!

      POSITION REQUIRES RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION TO ACCOMMODATE LATE NIGHT/EARLY MORNING HOURS!!

      MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK A SCHEDULE that WILL INCLUDE WEEKENDS, EVENINGS AND HOLIDAYS.

        Summary of Responsibilities:
      • Clean and sanitize restrooms, using cleansers, solvents, soap solutions, and polishes
      • Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; refill restroom dispensers
      • Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors
      • Wash walls and equipment
      • Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools; buffers, vacuums, brooms and mops for cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, equipment, etc.

      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

        Education/Experience:
      • High School Diploma or equivalent
      • Prior experience in custodial maintenance or a related field
        Skills/Abilities:
      • Team player – ready and willing to help wherever needed or assigned
      • Excellent customer service skills
      • Ability to follow written/verbal instructions
      • Ability to operate and use small power/hand tools
      • Ability to work independently
