We Salute Those Who Join Us!

Civic, business, community organization and individual contributions to the USS Midway Museum are critical to our vision of becoming America’s Living Symbol of Freedom. We salute our partners who share in our passion for creating a national resource that will inspire and education for generations to come.

Midway American Patriot Award Gala

Since its remarkable beginning in 2007 – featuring first recipient Bob Hope (posthumously) – the USS Midway's annual Midway American Patriot Award Gala has grown substantially, continually recognizing America’s most notable patriots. In 2008, we proudly honored the surviving Medal of Honor recipients that fought in World War II. In 2009, we partnered with the San Diego Air & Space Museum to salute the pioneering astronauts of NASA's Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo space programs. In 2010, we honored entrepreneur and philanthropist Lee Iacocca at a gala featuring the renowned San Diego Symphony. In 2011, Vice Admiral James Stockdale (posthumously) and Senator John McCain, outstanding aviators, public servants, and former POWs were honored. Finally, in 2012, the Midway honored renowned Marine Corps veterans and acclaimed American heroes former Governor Pete Wilson and Baseball Hall of Fame Sportscaster Jerry Coleman. The net proceeds from our annual gala go toward the DJO Global "No Child Left Ashore" scholarship program, an innovative, hands-on program teaching science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to students K-12.

We thank the following sponsors for their generous contributions to the 2012 Midway American Patriot Award Gala, ensuring it was a fabulous event. Please click here to visit the Midway American Patriot Award Gala website.
