USS Midway honors the 70th Anniversary of the Korean War

The Korean War, which began in 1950 and lasted for three years, resulted in the deaths of millions of people and the division of the Korean Peninsula into North and South.

In commemoration of the 70th anniversary, the USS Midway Museum will host a free event with registration (registration is closed, event has reached capacity) including guest speakers, special exhibits, and a screening of the major motion film Devotion, a movie about Epic heroism, friendship, and sacrifice during the Korean War.”

FAQS

Can I tour the USS Midway Museum during the Devotion Movie Night?

The Devotion Movie Night event takes place on a portion of the hangar deck. This will be the only area open. All lower deck exhibits will be closed during the event hours.

If I have a museum ticket visiting during regular museum hours, can I stay onboard until the event begins?

No. A separate ticket for the movie is required. All daytime museum guests must exit the ship at 5:00 p.m. The museum will reopen at 6:30 p.m. only for those with Devotion Movie Night tickets for the appropriate date.

Can children attend?

All ages are welcome. Please be advised this will be an adult environment, as well as alcohol being served.

Can a cell phone be used to show proof of ticket purchase?

No. Your tickets must be printed.

Can a ticket(s) be transferred to a friend or family member if I am unable to attend?

Yes. They will still need to have ticket(s) for admission. We are unable to hold tickets for guests at the entrance. Make sure everyone has their ticket in advance if you purchase for them and if they are coming separately. Again, please note there are no in and out privileges.

Will there be activities prior to when the movie starts?

Yes!

  • The Jet Shop will be open for purchases.
  • Photo opportunities.
  • Korean dance performance.
  • Exclusive exhibits including the MCDR’s exhibit, the Marine Corps Korean War experience.
  • Guest speakers.

Is there food/drink available for sale?

Yes! There will be an assortment of movie concessions available for purchase. Midway’s Beverage services will also offer specialty and non-alcoholic drinks.

What is the parking situation?

There is parking located on Navy Pier, owned and operated by the Port of San Diego for passenger vehicles only.

Is there an elevator for public use?

One passenger elevator is available. Priority usage will be for guests with wheelchairs and guests with difficulty climbing stairs.

BAG POLICY

To ensure our guests’ safety and to get all guests on board as quickly as possible, please review the following safety measures:

What is permitted on board?

  • Bags, backpacks, purses, tote bags, and diaper bags that are no larger than 14” X 14” X 6”
  • All plastic water bottles must have a factory seal intact
  • Strollers and wheelchairs, only if appropriately occupied by an individual
  • Lightweight lawn chairs and blankets (seating will not be provided unless reserved seating is purchased.)

Prohibited items include, but are not limited to the following:

  • You may NOT bring food on board for this event. Only factory-sealed water bottles will be permitted
  • The USS Midway is a non-smoking facility, no cigarettes including e-cigarettes are allowed.
  • You may NOT bring reusable water containers, opened water bottles, alcohol, or glass containers of any kind.
  • You may NOT bring briefcases, luggage, wagons, inflatable or bean-bag seating, unoccupied strollers, or wheelchairs.
