Remembering Operation Desert Storm

Thirty years ago, the USS Midway served as the flagship for all naval aircraft carrier battle groups in the Persian Gulf during Operation Desert Storm. Her air wing flew more combat missions than any U.S. carrier in the Gulf region while sustaining no casualties. The Midway and crew were awarded the Navy Unit Commendation for her role in the Gulf War. Today, we look back on this pivotal moment in U.S. Naval history.
