Join us for a FREE community gathering of music, dance, birthday cake, history and more for the USS Midway’s Birthday and 1st Annual Multi-Cultural Celebration!
Enjoy the sights and sounds of local multicultural music and traditional dances center stage on the flight deck of the Midway as we come together to celebrate 77 years of living history aboard America’s Living Symbol of Freedom. We hope you will join us for this entertaining community celebration!
In 1945, the USS Midway was commissioned with Captain Joseph F. Bolger in command. She was built by Newport News Shipbuilding Co. in Newport News, Virginia, and was the first ship in the US Navy too large to utilize the Panama Canal! Happy 77th Birthday, USS Midway!

Be sure to visit Café 41 on board the ship for special multi-ethnic food menu selections served in celebration of Midway’s birthday and Multi-cultural festivities.
