Leadership Program
The USS Midway Museum Education Department’s Youth Leadership program, currently executed in partnership with the Travis Manion Foundation and supported by the Flying Midshipmen Endowment Fund, is dedicated to teaching, and improving character development skills in our future generations.
Since the Leadership program piloted in 2015, hundreds of youths from the San Diego community have participated in and completed the character and leadership development curriculum.
The Leadership program features a day long program that takes place onboard the USS Midway and develops young adults as values-based leaders.
The program empowers students to develop their unique character strengths and to hone their leadership skills in order to better serve others.

USS Midway’s innovative Leadership ARCH workshop delves deep into the true essence of good leadership: taking action, being responsible, effective communication, and remembering humility.
Tailored for high school groups, this workshop will challenge participants to think critically and to act quickly, but with intention. Through interactive and dialogue-based activities, students will balance ego with teamwork, evaluate difficult decisions and handle their outcomes, and embrace failure as a steppingstone to success.
This workshop, supported by the Flying Midshipmen Endowment Fund, is built to provide real life, practical strategies for personal and academic growth, and to empower students to thrive as leaders both in and out of the classroom.
Cost: $35 per student, includes USS Midway Museum access after program
Timing: 0900 – 1200
Parking: Parking is available on the Pier, owned by the Port Authority of San Diego and operated by ACE Parking. Pricing on the Pier is dynamic, rates are generally between $5 to $30 subject to change at the discretion of ACE Parking. School buses are not permitted to park on the Pier.
