October is Kids Month Aboard Midway!
Adventure, discovery, and imagination are cleared for takeoff this October aboard the USS Midway Museum! From hands-on activities and high-flying flight simulators to immersive exhibits and historic aircraft, there’s something exciting for every young pilot — and with Kids Free admission, there’s no better time to come aboard.
Midway is the place where history and adventure come alive.
Kids Free October
As part of San Diego’s Kids Free 2026 program, kids can visit more than 70 museums for free in October – including the USS Midway Museum!
Bring the family aboard and take advantage of our KIDS FREE Admission Offer! Up to two kids (ages 4-12) will receive FREE admission to the USS Midway Museum with one full-priced adult admission ticket. See below for restrictions.

Kid Activities Aboard Midway
Experience 60+ Immersive Exhibits!
From high up on the bridge down to the main engine room, the museum will take you and your family on a unique journey that engages the sights, sounds, and aromas of U.S. Naval history. Learn the secrets of the ship's Carrier Intelligence Center or journey through the demanding conditions faced by naval engineers.
Get Up Close to Historic Naval Aircraft
Midway’s Flight Deck features over 20 skillfully restored carrier aircraft. Step in the shoes of naval aviators as you climb into helicopters, sit inside the cockpits of fighter jets and more!
Middie's Fleet
Navigate like a true captain right on the flight deck! Take the helm and set sail with Middie’s Fleet, the USS Midway Museum’s newest family friendly activity! Guests can step up to their own helm station, choose a Navy-inspired radio-controlled boat and explore the waters of Midway Atoll – island tunnel features and exciting nautical details coming soon!
Junior Pilot Program
Perfect for families with young aviators! Follow Airman Sam Rodriguez on a fun audio tour through more than 30 locations aboard the ship. Kids complete tasks, answer questions, and earn their very own Junior Pilot Wings, awarded by Midway’s volunteer Docents in yellow hats.
Air Combat 360 Flight Simulator
Two seats. Total control. Nonstop thrills. Strap in with a friend and take command in this pulse-pounding aerial combat simulator. Roll, spin and loop as you fly your mission! The sky (and the flight deck) is yours to conquer!
Cost: $10 per person, double occupancy required.

Virtual Reality Flight Experience: Screaming Eagles
Do you have what it takes to be an F/18 pilot? Join the Screaming Eagles training exercise, where you’ll launch off the flight deck, engage targets and land safely back aboard Midway. Every mission is unpredictable, so hold on tight and prove you’re ready for the challenge!
Cost: $10 per rider.

Overnight Adventure Program
Spend the night on the longest-serving aircraft carrier of the 20th century! From sleeping in real Navy bunks to eating breakfast on board, this immersive experience lets youth groups, families and individuals walk in the footsteps of true Midway Sailors. Create unforgettable memories during our Overnight Adventure Program!
