Attention Midway Members! Celebrate a Navy tradition and America's 250th birthday at our annual Steel Beach Party! Muster your friends and join us topside for live music, dancing, tropical island vibes, unforgettable sunset views on the San Diego Bay and liberty with your shipmates!
All attendees will receive a commemorative Steel Beach patch and souvenir photo.

The uniform of the day is loud Hawaiian prints and casual tropical attire!
Come dressed for a beach party on the deck! Comfortable shoes and light jackets are recommended.
Our chow line will feature favorites from the grill! Complementary beer tastings and specialty cocktails await!
All food and non-alcoholic beverages are included with your tickets. Attendees ages 21+ will also receive two complimentary drinks and six beer tastings.

History of Steel Beach
A "Steel Beach Picnic" is a long-standing morale-boosting tradition in the U.S. Navy. After months of hard work at sea without seeing land, the ship’s captain will declare a day off for the crew. Since sailors can't go to an actual beach, the ship's massive steel flight deck becomes their closest equivalent. The crew sets up grills to cook hamburgers, hot dogs, and steaks, while sailors participate in sports, play games and occasionally enjoy a rare "beer day". Countless Steel Beach events were held on the flight deck of the USS Midway during its years of active duty.
