Due to the restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the cancellation of the Port of San Diego’s Big Bay Boom fireworks show, Midway’s “A Family Fun 4th of July Celebration” event is canceled for 2020.

To ensure our guests’ safety and to get all guests onboard as quickly as possible, please note the safety measures now in effect for Midway’s A Family Fun July 4th Celebration.
Guests with special-event tickets will be permitted to carry the following:
- Bags, backpacks, purses, tote bags, diaper bags that are no larger than 14” X 14” X 6”
- 6-pack sized cooler containing small snack items, non-alcohol beverages in plastic containers.
- All plastic water bottles must have factory seal intact
- Strollers and wheelchairs, only if appropriately occupied by an individual
- Lightweight lawn chairs and blankets (seating will not be provided)
- Service animals are permitted (please note, fireworks will be taking place)
Prohibited items include, but are not limited to the following:
- The USS Midway is a non-smoking facility, no cigarettes including e-cigarettes are allowed.
- You may NOT bring reusable water containers, opened water bottles, alcohol, glass containers of any kind.
- You may NOT bring briefcases, luggage, wagons, inflatable or bean-bag seating, unoccupied strollers or wheelchairs.
All bags, coolers, pockets, and the like are subject to be checked by USS Midway Museum Safety staff for the security of all guests. Thank you for your cooperation.
When will tickets go on sale?
Tickets for our July 4th event typically go on sale one month prior to the event date. Estimated ticket on sale date for our next July 4th event is June 2020.
How much are tickets for the July 4th event?
Tickets for A Family Fun July 4th Celebration aboard the USS Midway vary.
We typically offer 4 ticket types:
- Adult (ages 17 and above)
- Youth (ages 6-17)
- Midway Member w/valid ID
- Children 5 and under (this ticket is free, but you must still have this free ticket for admission)
Ticket prices for our July 4th event in 2020 will be announced closer to the event date.
Is there food/drink available for sale?
Yes, food and beverages will be availalbe for purchase onboard during the July 4th event.
Food selection is typically all-American concessions and we will have alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available as well.
Do Museum Members get a discount or pre-sale before tickets go on sale to the public?
Yes, USS Midway Museum members may purchase a discounted ticket by entering their valid Membership ID number in the appropriate window at check out. No pre-sale ticket options are available.
Are there group ticket options for sale for this event?
Group sale tickets are not available for this event. Due to popularity, there is a 6 ticket maximum per transaction for this event.
Can I rent out an area or the entire ship for private or VIP viewing for this event?
No private functions or VIP viewing options are available on this date at this time. To book a private event onboard at a different date visit our Event page here.

Options to perform at this event are very limited, if any; however, if you would like to contact us for possible consideration please email our Visitor Information Center at email@example.com.
Are elevators available to board the ship?
Yes, elevators are available for wheelchairs and guests with difficulty climbing stairs. To ease the process and eliminate additional waiting time, we ask that only one caregiver accompany the elevator user. The rest of the group may use the other designated entrance locations.
The elevator cannot be used for coolers, chairs, bags, unoccupied strollers, unoccupied wheelchairs, etc.
What is the parking situation?
Due to the holiday, parking is very limited along the waterfront. Guests are encouraged to take public transportation or ride share services to avoid parking and traffic issues. For more information about direction and parking, click here.

How long will it take us to board?
Boarding time can vary. Each guest must go through a mandatory safety check of all bags/coolers which can take additional time during the boarding process. Your patience during this time is appreciated. Compliance with Midway’s Bag Policy will greatly expedite this process.
