Event Assistant

Job Description:

Provides general support to Midway Museum Event team, specifically to Event managers in preparation for and during private events (mostly evening events). Tasks will vary from one event to another but may include any of the following:

  • Assisting clients by providing support to their registration/check in process
  • Providing direction or distributing parking passes to guests on the pier
  • Greeting clients and/or or guests

Being familiar with event order Volunteer understands and applies museum rules and regulations consistently. Volunteer will maintain positive interactions with guests/clients with a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor at all times.

Must be able to use tact and understanding when dealing with a variety of ages of guests. Must have ability to perform multiple tasks at one time, must be able to follow verbal and written instruction, and be able to communicate verbally and in writing. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and public.

Requirements: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, event hosting experience preferred. Must be able to navigate ship’s stairs and stand for several hours at a time. Candidates must possess excellent communication skills. Strong initiative, organizational ability, independent judgment, and attention to detail are also important. The ability to maintain confidentiality and present a clean and professional appearance at all times is essential.

Commitment: one event per week (2 hour minimum) or 8-16 hours per month. Evening events on a varied schedule.
