The SNJ Texan is a famous  trainer from World War II and was used by the Navy for advanced flight training and carrier landing qualifications well in the 1950s.  Because of its resemblance to Japanese aircraft, Texans have been used in war films like “Tora! Tora! Tora!”, and “Midway”.   This particular SNJ even had a cameo in the movie “Swing Shift” in 1984.
