Media/Graphics Production for Museum Exhibits (Part-Time)

SAN DIEGO, CA

The Media and Graphics Developer is responsible for developing and designing graphics and multimedia content for museum exhibits.

Status:                Part-time, non-exempt, less than 20 hours per week.

Schedule:          Monday to Wednesday, 20 Hours per week.

Pay Range:        $28.00 per hour. The museum is not able to offer compensation outside of this posted range.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Create visually stunning graphics for various exhibit digital and print platforms that align with overall brand messaging.
  • Develop multimedia content, including videos, animations, and interactive presentations for museum exhibits.
  • Collaborate with the Exhibits team to create compelling visual stories that resonate with the target audience.
  • Stay updated on design trends, emerging technologies, and industry best practices to bring innovative ideas to the team.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS/ABILITIES:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma
  • Associate’s degree in media or design or work in a related field.
  • Five years of graphic design, multi-media, or UX experience.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficiency in MS Office Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, Teams or other meeting tool.
  • Advanced skills in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and multimedia tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of video editing software and 3D modeling tools.
  • Expert in design principles, color theory, and typography.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage a team, and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with current design trends and a creative mindset.
  • Ability to work with and for volunteers.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a self-initiating business environment.
  • Team player – ready and willing to help wherever needed or assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Job conditions and work location: Work is performed aboard the USS Midway in former administrative offices restored to primary working conditions.
  • Physical requirements: Constant climbing up and down stairs, bending, stooping, and lifting to move and retrieve materials, pulling and pushing, lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds, and reaching above and below shoulder height.
  • Equipment operated: General office equipment, large-format printer, plotter, vinyl cutter, laminators, and knives, as well as handheld radio.
