Within walking distance of San Diego’s convention center and adjacent hotels, the USS Midway offers a view of the downtown skyline which sparkles with an unforgettable backdrop of “America’s Finest City”, wow-ing your guests as they gather for your special event over cocktails and dinner.
The USS Midway Museum boasts two unique decks of expansive and versatile event space available for evening events from 6:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. The Hangar Deck and Flight Deck combined create a fusion of indoor and outdoor space that can accommodate between 200- 3,500 guests. Venues
Flight Deck
The impressive Flight Deck offers magnificent 360 degree views of San Diego, spanning the downtown skyline, San Diego-Coronado Bridge, and Point Loma. At 1,001 feet in length, spanning over 4 acres, with approximately 50,000 square feet of potential event space, the possibilities are infinite. Guests will be fascinated by the display of aviation history featuring an array of restored vintage aircraft from Midway’s illustrious tenure.
At the center of the Flight Deck stands the ship’s superstructure command tower, dramatically lit with the USS Midway’s signature “41” which provides a stunning backdrop to the festivities. Create a custom experience for your guests with unique themes like a USO/”Top Gun" style event, a 1940’s swing/big band-era soiree, or an elegant awards dinner at sunset.
The Flight Deck can accommodate up to 2,500 guests for reception-style events. Seated dinners from 200-1,000 guests are based upon event requirements and event format.
Note: With San Diego’s incomparable year-round weather, even in the winter, a cocktail reception on the Flight Deck can be followed by dinner on the Hangar Deck when a more temperate environment is desired.
Hangar Deck
The Hangar Deck features two column free hangar bays with approximately 17,000 total square feet of usable space. This area lends itself to a variety of unique themed events, with meticulously restored carrier-based aircraft. Guests can climb into a variety of cockpit exhibits, experience a thrilling flight simulator or a virtual reality flying adventure.
The Hangar Deck can accommodate up to 1,500 guests for reception-style events. Seated dinners from 200-600 guests are based upon event requirements and event format.
