The HH-46 Sea Knight was adapted by the Navy in 1964 for Vertical Replenishment (VERTREP) missions to resupply ships at sea. With ample power from its two engines and simplified payload balance issues from its twin rotors , the Sea Knight provided heavier and speedier cargo hook ups. The HH-46 was a frequent visitor to aircraft carriers and was also a popular passenger transport.
