Reopening: Our Response to COVID-19
As we reopen, the safety and well-being of our guests, staff, and volunteers is our top priority. The USS Midway Museum continues to enforce new measures designed to ensure a safe and healthy guest experience. These measures are based on guidance from health authorities, including the CDC, along with requirements of the state of California and San Diego County. Please follow all posted instructions while visiting the USS Midway Museum.
Notwithstanding our efforts, an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present; we cannot guarantee you will not be exposed during your visit. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the CDC, older adults and guests of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable. Guests should evaluate their risk in determining whether to visit.
By visiting the USS Midway Museum, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19. If you’re not ready to join us yet we understand. When the time is right for you, we look forward to welcoming you back onboard America’s Living Symbol of Freedom.
PREPARING FOR YOUR VISIT
ONLINE TIMED TICKETS
Tickets are available for purchase online only at this time. When purchasing tickets you will choose a date and time for your museum visit. This will allow us to manage the number of guests on board to assist with physical distancing requirements. Please arrive at your chosen date and time with your tickets, and review all information in your email confirmation.
Midway Members & Pass Holders: You are welcome aboard any time. You do not need to reserve online timed tickets. Simply bring your membership card/Freedom Pass and a photo ID to the entrance of the museum for admission.
All guests and Midway Crew will be required to wear a face covering while on board. Thank you for bringing your own.
Bring your own wired earbuds/headphones to enjoy our award-winning audio tour.
MIDWAY ONBOARD EXPERIENCE
High-touch surfaces will be frequently disinfected and hand sanitizer and wipe stations will be readily available throughout the ship.
Health & Wellness
All guests and Midway Crew will be required to undergo non-invasive temperature screenings prior to entry. If you are feeling unwell, please stay home.
For safety and sanitation purposes, all purchases onboard will be credit card only.
Food & Beverage
Midway’s Jetshop (Gift Shop) will offer limited snacks and beverage for sale. Please note, Midway is currently constructing, Cafe 41, an onboard dining experience that will be open in Spring 2021.
Check Your 6: Physical Distancing
- A limited capacity of guests will be onboard at any given time and “Check Your 6” signage will be placed throughout the ship as a friendly reminder to adhere to the 6 feet physical distancing requirements.
- Signage and staff will be present in high traffic areas to assist with physical distancing.
- Hangar Deck and Flight Deck tour routes will showcase Midway’s exclusive collection of more than 30 restored Navy aircraft and the incredible views of San Diego Bay.
- Additional onboard experiences: Audio Tour, Souvenir Photo, Screaming Eagles VR Flight Experience, Jet Shop (Gift Shop.)
- World Famous Midway Volunteers will bring the flight deck alive with talks on launching and landing aircraft and the adventures of life at sea.
Members & Annual Pass Holders
USS Midway Members and Pass Holders, you are welcome aboard any time. You do not need to reserve tickets online. Simply bring your membership card or Freedom Annual Pass and a photo ID, then head to the museum entrance.
For your safety, select below deck exhibits, our guided Island Tour, flight simulators, and climb aboard cockpits are temporarily closed. We are safely opening more spaces daily. Click here to join our email list here to be notified when more spaces open.
